About Lemon Session

Lemon Session is a blog created by me, Kevin L. Jones, a music-obsessed journalism student at UC Berkeley. I wanted to adapt what I learned at grad school to music journalism, which for years has been lacking in substance. It appears to me that music "journalists" prefer to socialize rather get the facts straight and would rather concentrate on their "witty" metaphors than write anything of substance.

All the MP3s are for you to download and throw on your Ipod's and Mixtapes for your friends. All bands I record will get copies of the recording; if you're in a band that has MP3s posted but has not received a copy of the recording, email me at lemon.session@yahoo.com. If you interested in trading recordings, send me an email to the same address with a list of what you have to offer.

For those who want to know, a lemon session is form of therapy/punishment where one is singled out by a group of his/her peers for intense derision. Anything at all embarrassing or sensitive is exploited to intentionally make you lose it. Tom Wolfe wrote in his essay "The Me Decade" that lemon sessions were invented in the days of Louis XIV at the first finishing school called Saint Cyr and later adapted by groups such as Yale's secret society, Skulls and Bones.
